(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Cardinals Women's Golf team completed their season at the WHAC Championship hosted by Lawrence Tech at Stonehedge Golf Club in Augusta, MI.
Ten teams competed for the Championship title, but Indiana Tech bested all other teams by 18 strokes with a team total of 924 to take home the title. The individual scoring champion for the tournament was Wiebke Schlender of Indiana Tech with a tournament record total of 222 (6 over par) over the course of 3 rounds.
Under the direction of Coach Bryan Grzesiek, the Cardinals have continued to make positive strides. Daniela Perez (SO/Belleville, MI) was the low scorer for the team with a 36th place finish. Freshman golfer Carlie Morris (FR/Pinckney, MI) was right on her heals with a 40th place finish. Colleen Szakacs improved her score by 28 shots over the course of the weekend as she continues to make improvements in her golf game. Senior Emily Bearman (SR/Ypsilanti, MI) received All-Academic honors with a cumulative GPA above 3.25 for her college career.
First year coach Bryan Grzesiek was impressed with the improvements the Women's team has made during the course of the season. He commented, "These young ladies stayed positive and gave it everything they got out there on the course this weekend. Our program is heading in the right direction and I am excited to be a part of it."
The Cardinals will pick up again in the fall with a tournament at Stonewater Golf Club in Grand Rapids, MI hosted by Davenport University.
