(Sept. 8, 2007 - Northville, Mich.) -- Gwen Van Derwold (Fr. - Milford, Mich.) was the only healthy runner available on the women's side as the team opened the 2007 schedule at the University of Detroit-Mercy Invite in Northville Saturday. Van Derwold, in her first collegiate run, finished a respectable 28th as she crossed the finish line at 21:56. Rachelle Malette of Wayne State won her second consecutive Titan championship as she helped the Warrior team finish as the top team. Van Derwold, and hopefully some healthy teammates, will return to the course this Friday the Michigan State Spartan Invitational in Lansing.
