(Ann Arbor, MI)--Concordia University Ann Arbor is pleased to announce the addition of Men's and Women's Bowling as the 17th & 18th Varsity Sports to be offered to student-athletes.
"Bowling is becoming a very popular sport at the high school level," says Ben Limback, athletic director. "We are excited to give student-athletes an opportunity to continue bowling at the collegiate level here at Concordia."
Limback and the athletic department will hire a coach this fall to begin planning and recruiting for the program. Athletic scholarships will be available.
Concordia will compete against other United States Bowling Congress Collegiate teams. Currently, four WHAC schools participate as USBC Collegiate varsity teams - Davenport, Indiana Tech, Siena Heights and Northwestern Ohio - and the University of Michigan-Dearborn participates as a club team. The sport is positioned to continue to grow as the NAIA elevated bowling to emerging sport status last year.
Concordia athletes now have a wide variety of sport offerings available to them with the addition of Football, Cheer & Dance and now Bowling.
