(Ann Arbor, MI) -Concordia Volleyball is pleased to announce the signing of Alyssa Kainz from Wyandotte High School. Alyssa will rejoin former Wyandotte HS teammate Ashley Maynard on the Cardinals' squad starting in the fall of 2012. In Alyssa's senior year, she recorded 145 kills, 49 blocks, 41 assists and had an 87% serving percentage. As a team Wyandotte earned one League Title as well as a News Herald victory. Cardinals' Head Coach Karen Graves stated that "Alyssa is going to be filling a big role for us next year. Although she is used to playing Right Side (RS), we are going to challenge her to play other positions." Coach Graves went on to say "we have very high expectations for Alyssa next year. There are a number of positions next year that we are looking for a new player to step up and take over. Alyssa has the opportunity to take over the right side as this is her comfort spot, but we want to challenge her and maybe have her work on the left side as well. The great thing about Alyssa is that I know she will be willing and ready to take on the challenge and do whatever she needs to do to help the team. It's having players who are willing to take on challenges with a positive attitude like Alyssa that will be vital to a success of our program. We look forward to Alyssa joining us in the gym for the 2012 season."

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia Volleyball continues to add more depth to what will be a very young and talented team next year. The Lady Cards recently signed Jamie Schaub who hails from Columbia High School in Brooklyn, MI. Jamie was the leader and go to person on her varsity team at Columbia HS. In her senior year, Jamie had 147 kills with a hitting percentage of .247, 46 aces at 87% serving accuracy, 34 blocks and 101 digs. She was awarded the Coach's Award in 2011 as well as Academic All-State.

Her Varsity Volleyball Coach, Patty Vandeventer had this to say about Jamie "Although, Jamie was never the "star" player or recipient of an MVP award, she is a shining example of how hard work pays off. She stayed diligent and focused throughout her middle school and high school years in our volleyball program and improved tremendously. In her own way, she shines like a star, both on and off the volleyball court. One of the nicest, most respectful young women you will meet!"

Cardinals' Head Coach Karen Graves had this to add about Jamie, "We are very happy to have signed Jamie. She adds some much needed depth in a few positions for us. We plan on using her as an outside hitter but she played middle much of her high school career. It gives us extra security having a player that knows more than 1 position. But I am most excited about the intangible qualities that Jamie brings with her, like her work ethic, intelligence and desire to constantly improve. I have no doubt that she will make our program a better and stronger program because of these qualities."

Concordia University would like to welcome Jamie Schaub as their newest Cardinal.

CUAA 3, Lourdes 2

(Ann Arbor, MI) - On Friday the Cardinals hosted Lourdes University and honored three seniors that have made a huge impact on the program.  All three girls have been consistent starters for the Cards since the day they arrived.  Ashley Hart and Danielle Guss both came to Concordia in 2008 and started as freshman.  Both are etched in the record books and have made huge impacts on and off the court.  Ali Miller came to Concordia last season as a transfer and has also been a consistent starter.  Head Coach Karen Graves had this to say about the seniors; "These 3 girls are the reason that we've had such a good and memorable season. There is no one on this team that they played with last year and only 2 of us were even a part of the program. But that didn't mean anything to these seniors. They accepted us and made us a part of their family.   They all have made big impacts on all our lives. They've given us memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime, and they have each touched our souls that make us better people just by knowing them. I have enjoyed every minute coaching them and we are all blessed to call them family!"
