(Ann Arbor, MI) - The NAIA released selections for the All-American Teams in both Men's and Women's Division II basketball this past Wednesday. Concordia University is proud to announce that three of our student athletes have received All-American honors.

The first athlete we would like to recognize is senior guard Kortni Elsworth, who earned 1st Team All-American honors. Kortni received Third Team honors in the 2011 season but easily topped her performance this year, and is more than worthy of her First Team accolades this season. The second athlete being recognized is Hannah Sabol. This junior forward for the Women's Basketball team receives an All-American Honorable Mention selection for her outstanding contribution to the very successful season of this year's Cardinal team.

The Men's Basketball team would also like to commend one of its players. Senior forward Rocko Holmes was selected to receive Third Team All-American honors for his exceptional performance in the 2011-12 season.

Concordia University is excited to celebrate the achievements of these All-American student athletes and wish them luck in all of their future endeavors!

(Ann Arbor, MI)  The Cardinal Crazies were out in full force on Monday December 6th.  Only this time, they truly were "Crazy."  Thirty students and faculty braved the cold Michigan weather, snow showers, and a 4.5 mile walk to raise money for Mott Children's Hospital as part of the Ho-Ho-Hope for the Holidays event that has been organized by Concordia student Sarah Bredeson.  The event was organized as a joint effort to support the Cardinal Men's Basketball team for their game at Crisler Arena against the University of Michigan, and raise money for a great cause.

The 60th annual CIT will be held here in Ann Arbor on the Cardinal campus in late January of 2011. The CIT is the second oldest and longest running basketball tournament in the nation behind the NIT. Men's and women's basketball teams from Concordia-Chicago, Concordia-Seward Nebraska, and Concordia-Mequon Wisconsin will compete with the first game beginning Friday, January 28th. The Lady Cards first game on that Friday is at 5:30pm against Concordia-Mequon followed by the men's game at 7:30pm who are also playing Concordia-Mequon in the opening round.

Last year both Cardinal teams lost in the opening round but beat Concordia Chicago in the Consolation game. The Cardinal men's team last won the CIT in 2007. The Cards won back to back championships in 2006 and 2007 and hope to bring back another championship to Ann Arbor. The Lady Cards were in the championship game back in 2008 but have not won the CIT yet and look to do so for the first time this season. The tournament is still months away, but Concordia and both of its teams are looking forward to hosting the CIT for its 60th birthday and throwing one heck of a celebration!
